Welcome to Burlington Elementary,
Home of the Trailblazers!
Date: Friday, April 18th
Time: 9:00 & 10:15 am
Is it possible to get your child excited about recycling while teaching them valuable life lessons at the same time? Yes, it is—and Imagination Makers Theater Company’s play “Fables—Old and New” does just that! This imaginative musical play first dramatizes children’s retellings of Aesop’s traditional fables, such as “The Boy Who Cried Wolf” and “The Tortoise and the Hare,” then recycles them into student-written, modern versions of the tales. We know exposing your child to cultural events can be expensive, so thanks to funds from our school and a grant from the Community Foundation Serving Boulder County and the Boulder County Scientific and Cultural Facilities District (SCFD), this professional theater company is performing at our school at no cost to parents!
In addition to reusing old fables, the entire set for the play, all the props, and the musical instruments have been created entirely from recycled materials. Your child will see that with little more than “junk” and a good imagination, something amazing can be created! “Fables--Old and New” will be performed by three professional actors and one musician and is sure to inspire your child to look for morals in everyday experiences. It will also motivate them to approach recycling in a whole new way! You are warmly invited to join us for this performance and watch along with your children as old Aesop gets a free makeover right here at school!
If you are unable to attend, feel free to visit Imagination Makers Theater Company’s website www.imaginationmakers.org to see a short clip of the play or to download a free copy of the “Fables--Old and New” Parent Activity and Discussion Guide. Imagination Makers is a nonprofit 501(3)(c) organization. If you are interested in helping them continue their work for the children of our community, please visit their website www.imaginationmakers.org/donate/.
